Cover That's New Chapter of Iowa Rock & Pop

When the foundation of one of Iowa’s most beloved high-energy acts reunites, the result is nothing short of electric. Cover That has officially combined forces with Tim and Jana West (Retrospect), marking a powerful homecoming for drummer Dale Rupp.

The connection runs deep: Dale, Tim, and Jana originally made waves across the region with the high-energy sounds of Abby Normal. Today, that same chemistry is back, refined by decades of professional touring and reimagined for the modern stage. Joining them are the versatile talents of Chris Pierson on lead guitar and Jeff “The Grey” Abbas on keys, rounding out a five-piece lineup that defines musical excellence.

The Lineup

• Jana West (Lead Vocals & Guitar): A powerhouse frontwoman and published songwriter, Jana embodies every lyric with a passion and skill that commands the stage.

• Tim West (Bass & Vocals): Bringing the rock-solid foundation and vocal harmony that has made him a staple of the regional circuit for years.

• Chris Pierson (Lead Guitar & Vocals): A master of versatility, Chris’s soulful playing spans everything from blues and gospel to rock and pop, from tasteful to raw and angular.

• Jeff “The Grey” Abbas (Keys & Vocals): A mainstay of the Iowa music scene since the 80s, Jeff’s keyboard work adds a rich, professional layer to the band’s diverse repertoire.

• Dale Rupp (Drums & Percussion): A seasoned pro since the mid-70s, Dale has shared stages with legends like The Charlie Daniels Band and Black Hawk. His rock-solid pocket is the heartbeat of the band.
